ooluu is Davindra, Asa, and Jimmy.
Inducing trance states and altered consciousnesses, ooluu wields mysticism, ritualism, and cosmogony through concussive bass, tribal drumming, serrated guitars, and soaring, shrieking vocals.
Forged out of Oompalunatiks, the brainchild of Ignius Shacklebolt, the kernel of ooluu was Asa and Davindra’s meeting through Ignius. Initially a five-piece band, Oompalunatiks was formed early in the summer of 2012. In May 2013, Oompalunatiks rechristened themselves ooluu.
ooluu released their first single and music video, "Powder-White", on December 13, 2013, and their debut EP, MANNEQUIN, on February 14, 2014.
In the summer of 2014, Davindra, Asa, and Khemavr retreated entirely from live performances to hone their new sound and conceptual oeuvre, OPHUS.
Emerging only briefly in 2015, ooluu began the proceedings for the second cycle, and on January 23, 2016, after almost two years of patiently perfecting it, unleashed the OPHUS LP.
ooluu released the ANTEDILUVIAN EP on March 23, 2018, followed by their fiercely honed industrial metal EP, DILUVIAN, on July 26, 2019 with the mixing wizardry of Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Carly Rae Jepsen) behind their freshly ferocious and more tribal material.
Returning in 2022 with a new lineup to showcase their highly melodic yet horrific single, “RIPE”, 2023 brought their genre-bending, psychologically-scarring schizophrenic prog-noise EP, BREAK. Now in 2024 comes the evolution: ALTAR.
